a rainy sunday

August 11, 2008

i woke up waaay past noon today and it felt sooo good to sleep in! i had a coffee with extra soy milk and lounged around for an hour before tommy and i headed to boston. on the drive, there were huge dark clouds and lots of lightening over the city…we were definitely chasing a storm but i wasn’t going to let the weather ruin yet another day!

we tried to stay dry by stopping in and out of stores on boylston street. i bought a yoga dvd and perfume- baby doll by yves saint laurent. this is the description from sephora:

Baby Doll speaks to the woman who is naturally young at heart. She is sophisticated, yet clings to the lightheartedness of youth. A precocious beauty with a sweet, sensitive side, she’s the center of attention and life of the party.

how perfect, right? i usually wear escada which is very fruity. baby doll is just the right mix of fruity and floral plus it’s just so pretty and pink!

the rain started to lighten up, so we headed to the prudential building. originally, i wanted to have a picnic at the public garden but that idea was washed out (haha) so we had it at the pru instead. there’s a courtyard in the middle of the building that is a great place to take a break. or for a rainy day there’s a small area of chairs and tables in the wing that no one ever goes to (across from the post office) that looks out into the courtyard and is perfect for a packed lunch.

pictured: pound cake, blueberries, whole wheat sourdough, red potatoes, cucumbers, carrots, cheese and root beer barrel candy. i ate the berries, 2 slices of bread, 1/4 potatoes, 1/2 veggies and cheese, and a candy. who.woulda.thunk.it…a picnic at the mall 🙂

we hung out at barnes & noble for a bit and i am officially all caught up on miley cyrus‘ life. then, i got treated to a starbucks lemon cookie on the way out. an orange cross-eyed octopus cookie…does it get any better? it tasted like fruit loops and i had 1/3 or about 4 tentacles 🙂

we walked along the reflecting pool at the christian science center (not to be confused with scientology) which is my absolute favorite place in boston. i could go there everyday and never get sick of it.

me and tommy goofin off with the pru behind us 🙂

what a fun day. i’m so glad i went outside despite the storm! when we got home i made us a quick pasta dinner.

a small serving of meat sauce over bowties, topped with crushed red pepper.
