newport part three: the food

after the scenic “ocean drive” we found ourselves in was at red parrot in newport. their menu had a mix of american plus carribean and influenced items.

i had a red parrot rum-bha to drink which was a mix of rum, midori, cherry liqueur, banana liqueur, coconut cream, strawberries, bananas. all their blended cocktails sounded so yummy. but who are we kidding? most cocktails sound yummy to me! 😀 i stuck to just one though cus just look at this beauty…you know it has a gazillion calories!

i was eying the calamari pizza on the menu…it sounded really good. but i was also in the mood for some veggies so i kinda compromised by ordering the calamari appetizer and a salad…and creating my own meal!

the calamari was tossed with hot cherry peppers which added a great kick. LOVED it. the salad was the guatemala fresca salad which was dressed in fresh lime juice and black pepper. all the flavors together were perfect!

i ate the leftover calamari straight out of the takeout box with my fingers as soon as i got back home at midnight. i only wish this had a mix of the rings and tentacles…i really like the leggies 🙂

i also indulged in some chocolate treats while in newport…i had a piece of this “cookie dough” fudge while strolling down thames street (and picking out my future yachts). and some nonpareils while at the breakers….i’m a sucker for anything with sprinkles!
