red hearts and bleu

happy valentine’s night! 🙂

i started my day with chocolate-  how can the day go bad when you start with that?

tommy brought me my valentine’s day gifts in bed. the first thing i pulled out of the bag was a box of chocolates! when we were first dating, i told him that i really wanted a cheesy heart shaped box with frills and lace, and he really delivered with this one. the only thing that could have made this gaudier is some velour. 😀


i immediately ate two pieces of chocolate. one strawberry creme, and one chocolate creme. YUM!



do you notice anything different about my pictures? do they look clearer cus tom got me a new camera. YAY! my not so subtle hints worked and i REALLY needed one! i’ve had the same camera since 2001 when 4 mega pixels was all fancy shmancy! it’s been through quite a bit of abuse- and while it still took decent photos in good lighting, it really sucked in any other condition.



after playing around with my new cam, i finally got out of bed and fixed myself my latest favorite- in a valentine’s bowl, of course.



the rest of the day was not very exciting…we ran some errands and watched a dvd. i shopped for the ingredients to make the birthday cake but i kept forgetting things and had to run back to the store twice! 

i fixed myself some leftovers for lunch. an enchilada and a cabbage salad w/ ff thousand island.


for dinner, i made chicken cordon bleu as planned. tommy requested this meal a while ago and i held off since it seemed too labor intensive. it wasn’t too bad, i guess… i didn’t bread mine and had a side of spinach and a little bit of mashed potatoes.


the rest of the night was spent assembling the birthday cake. i decided to make a chocolate cherry ice cream cake from the chocolate cake doctor cookbook. it has layers of devil’s food cake, vanilla ice cream, and cherry pie filling…


on top of that went another layer of ice cream and then a layer of cake. it’s setting in the freezer now, but i have no idea what to frost it with! i hope that regular cake frosting will work, because i think it’s the only thing that will survive a car ride. it has to travel about 90 minutes but i plan on packing it in an ice box with LOTS of ice…so hopefully it’ll be okay! i’ll post a pic of the finished product tomorrow. 

have a LOVELY night! i’m off to frost a cake!

    Oh my gosh, yum yum yum! And so much run too! And love the camera!!! Oh have a wonderful time!!!

    Okay, WHY have I not thought of not breading myself a chicken cordon bleu? Why???
