oh sweet vegan cupcake!

March 8, 2009

i started my day with a big bowl o’ chobani and it was delicious as usual. i tried switching it up and eating plain jane yogurt more often to save some cash, but it’s just not as good! oh well, i’ll find other things to save on- i haven’t been eating as much meat lately so that usually leaves me some extra money in my budget for splurges like yogurt and bars. i miss the days when a gucci bag was a splurge! damn being an adult really sucks sometimes! 😛

i spent the morning playing wii tennis. i get really into it and start jumping around and crashing into furniture. with the sun shining into our apartment, it was getting a bit warm and i think i may have broke a sweat. we’d still be playing now but tom and i started fighting cus we started losing and he keeps blaming it on my jumping. he says that tennis players don’t jump, but i told him that short people have to jump! guys get so competitive when playing video games- sheesh!

after tennis, i enjoyed the rest of the oh sweet mama‘s! cupcake i bought from cafe evolution yesterday. this baby is chocolate with mint frosting- it tasted very york peppermint patty-ish! the frosting was light and creamy, and the cake was fudgy with chocolate chip pieces and dense but not heavy if that’s even possible. i would never have guessed it was vegan, or that a vegan treat could taste so “authentic.” i’m definitely going to seek out more vegan baked goods!

has anyone had any good vegan cupcakes in boston? my fave cupcakes ever are from party favors in brookline (so so good!) but they are far from vegan. the only place i can think of that has them is kickass cupcakes in davis square…but i’m not a fan of any of theirs!

anyway, back to this beauty. this was the size of a large muffin, and like i mentioned last night, i tried a piece as soon as i got home. when i started to eat it today, i started with the “fat girl” approach- like…i kept taking nibbles of it while doing other things around the apartment- which i blame on both greed and guilt. i wanted it to last, and i also feel like i’m eating less calories if i don’t eat them all at once. after i realized how silly that is, i sat down and enjoyed the whole half that was left of it. very satisfying!

i should probably eat a real lunch at some point too 🙂 but for now this lovely cupcake is sitting very happily in my tummy! i have no real plans for today, but i’m heading out now to enjoy the weather! i hope you’re enjoying the rest of your weekend.

So glad to hear about a great vegan cupcake place! I haven’t really found great vegan desserts around Boston (I’ve tried a few different places) but I’ll let you know if I find anything good!
