new yogurt love!

March 17, 2009

i ended up falling asleep after i posted my last entry and woke up right before tom got home. oops…i threw together the quickest thing i know how: stir fry! this was buckwheat noodles with carrots, broccoli, onion and steak. i decided that i’m going to save red meat for occasions when i really want it (like korean bbq, and grilled burgers in the summer!) because the steak was probably my least favorite part of the meal.

as i was cleaning up after dinner, i found myself grabbing a couple handfuls of pita chips…i guess i was still hungry.

i wasn’t craving anything in particular so i decided i should eat a yogurt since i have so many containers in the fridge. i chose to try this cabot 2% chocolate raspberry greek yogurt…best decision ever!

omg! this cabot yogurt was SO yummy. i’ve never had a “dessert” flavored yogurt before, so i don’t know if this is unique or not, but this tasted 100% like i was eating dessert- and i’m not talking a healthy dessert either.  the “greek style” yogurt was only a tiny bit thicker than regular yogurt, so while that was dissapointing, the consistency and the taste ended up reminding me of melted chocolate soft serve with raspberry sauce swirled in. i don’t know if it was the raspberry flavor or the actual yogurt, but it had a very tart taste to it that i found refreshing and really enjoyed.

i compared the nutrition facts to some of the other yogurts i had in the fridge and it still seemed pretty healthy. the yogurts i compared them to are all fat free, and the cabot was only a slightly higher in calories and sugar.

i have one more flavor to try, but considering how much i love chocolate raspberry (my favorite chocolate= those godiva raspberry filled chocolate starfish) this one’s going to be hard to beat. i plan on stocking up on these to enjoy as dessert so it’s an added bonus that they were only 99 cents.

I’ve had the same experience with steak in stir-fries. I eat red meat so infrequently, I rarely crave it.

I love eating flavored yogurts for dessert! Check out the Wallaby yogurts – they’re not greek-style, but they have some eccentric flavors that taste completely decadent.
