yelp event @ mizu salon
tom and i headed into boston for a second time to attend a yelp elite event held at mizu salon. i thought the pru (our destination) looked all cool enveloped in the fog so i snapped a pic 🙂
the drive (traffic!), looking for street parking, giving up, looking for an open spot under the pru, and everything else felt like it took an eternity. we were a bit late, and yelpers aren’t shy around free food, so i had my fingers crossed that there’d be something to eat.
no need to worry, because we were greeted with this:
cheese, bread, antipasto, spreads, cookies, and other nibbles provided by sel de la terre (WHEN ARE WE GOING TO BRUNCH MELINDA?)
ridiculously gorgeous cupcakes courtesy of sugar bakery in west roxbury. (there were SO many cute cupcakes everywhere, i wish i got more pics of them!)
and some crazy STRONG cocktails poured by berkshire mountain distillery
there was also a very popular photo booth, makeovers in process, swag bags, and of course the fabulously dressed yelpers.
doesn’t mizu look super duper cool and futuristic?
okay and onto my eats. i had a few of these. thumbprint cookies are my favorite, i couldn’t resist.
another thing i couldn’t resist were the cupcakes!
tom and i kinda stared at this one for a while trying to figure out the best course of action until the girl next to us suggested we use forks.
amazing! i had about a third (including the frosting!)
i also had a slice of crusty bread and 2 pieces of cheese to counter my strong grapefruit vodka drinkie. i didn’t take a picture because i noticed a tipsy girl hitting on my already uncomfortable bf out of the corner of my eye and was too busy watching in amusement.
and because i’m a complete glutton, i had to grab a lemon cupcake to go….i got a curly hair conditioner (how did they know!?) and a gift cert in my swag bag- YAY!
there were quite a few jealous glances as i walked through the mall with my little cupcake! 🙂 i had all intentions of saving it for another day, but i’m weak, and i gobbled it down as soon as i got in the car. (mostly the cake and only a little of the frosting this time)
it was a fun night! there was an afterparty at vox populi…afterwards…but we decided to skip out because the whole driving/ finding a new parking spot that doesn’t cost a gazillion dollars thing was too much of a hassle. oh well, i had enough excitement for the day and tom bought me a boloco bangkok bowl (brown rice, asian slaw, tofu) on the way home 🙂
i enjoyed all the treats last night. i had my “ohhh, i shouldn’t” moments, but i decided to just go for it as a last hurrah cus i already decided that this coming month is going to be a bit of a detox month. okay, not really a detox- that sounds too extreme. there will just be a few more carrot sticks and a few less cookies, sounds good right?
