in need of groceries

April 22, 2009

well, like the title says, i need to go grocery shopping, desperately!

this morning, i had a chocolate carnation instant breakfast shake with pb and soy milk. i didn’t have enough unsweetened soy milk, so i also used a little of this banana flavored soy milk. this stuff tastes like a banana flavored now & later in liquid form! if only it didn’t have hfcs in it 😦

for lunch, i used the last of the veggies in the fridge to make a salad with romaine, artichoke hearts, feta and a chicken cake- dressed in light balsamic vinaigrette. i also had some grapes on the side (and threw some in the salad t00).

i need new salad dressing. any suggestions? what’s your favorite store bought dressing?

i’m going to hold off til tomorrow to food shop, so we’re not stuck carrying them in the rain. hopefully i’ll be able to come up with a decent dinner. see you tonight!

    Banana soymilk?? Interesting.

Dressing = I’m down with just oil & vinegar.

I usually make my own dressing, but Annie’s has a great variety: Green Goddess, “Lite” Honey Mustard, “Lite” Raspberry Vinaigrette & Asian Sesame are all delish. I also love Maple Grove Farms Maple Fig dressing.

I don’t eat dressing all the time. I love Salad Elegance. Find it in the spice aisle. Sprinkle it on your salad and super yum!

My favorite salad dressing is something I make myself – 3T oil, 1T white wine vinegar, 1tspn dijon mustard, and a big spoonful of minced garlic.

You have to try Bolthouse Farms new Yogurt Dressings; they are in the refrigerator section of Stop n Shop/Shaws. They are AMAZING – they are deliciously thick, but made with all natural ingredients and yogurt, so two tablespoons of their richest dressings (Ranch or Parmasean ) are only 80 calories. Their honey mustard one is only 45 calories for two TBS and is so good. All natural, lower calorie but SO good!
