garden salad

May 18, 2009

after a night of feasting and inbibing saturday night, i had no problem getting to sleep and woke up refreshed and ready to tackle my sunday…of nothingness 😀

i had a smoothie for breakfast…avocado, banana, apple and blackberries.

i did absolutely nada for the next 8 hours or so…

around 5-ish, i decided that i should do something productive and decided to finish up weeding the garden.

i had an apple with some peanut butter before i heading out to my lil’ community garden plot.

this time i took a “step” in the right direction and wore proper footwear.

here’s a before shot of the crazy weeds from earlier this week.

and here’s the after, lots of weeding and mulching later! i also sprinkled cinnamon all over my plot…i looked up natural ant deterrents online and it was one of the recommendations….i don’t think i had quite enough cinnamon to make a difference but at least my garden smells good!

i’m so excited to get my babies planted! i have no idea what my next step is supposed to be though. i watched three hours of martha stewart’s spring gardening last night and the only thing i learned is that i reallly want a pair of denim overalls.

anyways…i was out in the garden for a few hours and was majorly hungry when i got back in, which quickly progressed to chew my arm off status while dinner was in the making.

there wasn’t much in the fridge to work with, i had just enough produce in the fridge to make a decent salad (i can’t wait til i can use fresh picked veggies!). i also made oven charred baked sweet potato fries and kielbasa.

this dinner made my tummy very happy and full. it was the perfect fuel for another marathon couch session 🙂

How was the avo in your smoothie? I’ve been wanting to try it but scared I won’t be able to taste it…thus essentially wasting precious avocado!
