i like it spicy!

June 15, 2009

happy monday! sorry for the MIA action this weekend. i couldnt get online on fri + sat, and i was out all day on sunday. i gots lotsa recapping to do. so let’s hop to it!

friday morning…i got up at 4:30 AM after i had finally got to bed about an hour earlier. FUN

we made a dunkin donuts stop before getting on the mass pike, i got me a veggie flatbread sandwich. i think this is an egg white omelet with veggies and cheese on a multigrain flatbread. but don’t quote me. deelish.

i sipped on a vanilla chai latte which tasted sugary, syrupy and yummy

and enjoyed a lovely drive:

we made it to tommy’s training at 7:30. after he went in, i zzzed in the car for a bit, made up my face and headed to one ghetto-ass mall. it was full of stores like rave, rainbow, & debs. awesome. i managed to kill 2+ hours in the ahjumah (old lady) section at sears.

goin’ for the nautical look…

then i met up with the bf for lunch, he had a pizza and i ate my packed turkey wrap.

then i went back to shopping 🙂 as i was paying for my gazillion hair accessories from claire’s, tom called me to pick him up again. he got out of training early so i didn’t have time for my pedi 😦

we snacked on some cerealz while taking the scenic route to his parent’s house and took the longest nap once we arrived.

dinner was super duper exciting! we went to a korean restaurant in hadley. YEAH!

“gohyang” is really small but must be popular with the students (amherst?) cus all the tables were taken when we walked in. they have a raised platform, where you can sit on the floor and eat at a low table (kinda like at japanese restaurants..but without the big hole to put ur legs in).

my sexy date…it was his first time at a korean restaurant (after almost 2 years of dating me!) because i don’t go to k restaurants very often in MA cus they kinda suck.

we ordered galbi (marinated grilled short ribs aka the reason why i could never give up red meat), tom got a omurice (omlet over fried rice) and i got a ttaro guk bap (simmered spicy beef broth with greens, sprouts, and radish) and brown rice.

here’s a bit of galbi with the banchan (you always get free side dishes at korean restaurants to eat with your meal)

from top left: spicy seasoned bean sprouts, fish cakes, pickled white radish, kimchi, and korean pickles (my fave).

my soup:

hot and spicy! the waitress asked if i wanted it made mild, but to prove my “korean-ess” i asked for very spicy. my tongue can handle the korean spices, but my body betrayed me cus i started sweating as i ate. i only had hot barley tea to drink with my meal (another proving my korean-ess thing) so i totally killed the pickled cukes and radish to cool off.

after dinner, i picked up a pulp-y orange drink to have for dessert.

this meal was alright, but i can’t wait to go to cali and eat some good korean food! *fingers crossed* i’ll be able to afford a trip later this summer.

well, time for a lunch break. i wanna get caught up, so i’ll put a saturday recap up soon!
