brunching, thrifting & artsying

June 28, 2009

yesterday was so fab-u-lous! i loved having my friend in town. it had been nearly 4 years since i had last seen him! he’s back in dc now, but i hope i can visit him soon!

saturday started off with brunch at the friendly toast which you may remember from this post.

of course i started off with a cocktail. it’s absolutely required in my book.

can you guess my pick? i’ll tell you that it’s definitely not suspicion. just reading the word jagermeister makes my stomach turn. gross.

i got skin game! stoli, oj and strawberry ICE CREAM! gorgeous!

also gorgeous were those cheesy fries in the back. do you see them?

check this plate of amazingness out! french fries with melted provolone and blue cheese with strawberry habanero dipping sauce.

holy moly were those things delicious. we all split this plate, and let me tell you…it was attacked!

for my brunchie, i ordered a bowl of fruit with yogurt and whole wheat toast. all their bread is homemade and taste so hearty and yummy.

unfortunately i forgot to order the toast dry, and i’m not a fan of buttered toast. i only had a few bites of it, and finished all the fruit and yogurt.

after brunch, we walked around the corner to the garment district to sift through their dollar a pound clothes.

the garment district is a thrift/costume/vintage/etc shop with this huge pile of clothes on the first floor that you can buy by the pound.

i found a cute cardigan and these totally awesomesauce overalls that came out to be one pound! yay ๐Ÿ™‚

the next stop on our day in boston was the institute of contemporary art! the ica used to be this tiny little museum in the back bay with quirky exhibits and cheap admission. now it’s all fancy and by the waterfront which a bitch to get to, so i don’t get to visit it very often. they have great special exhibits though, right now they are featuring prints by shepard fairey, who is the artist who made the famous obama hope print.

i have a gazillion more pics to share, but i’m gonna have to “to be continued…” this post cus i need to get to bed. brunch was my only meal on saturday. i think all the dairy i had in the morning made my tummy feel wonky and so i wasn’t in the mood for dinner. then we went out and i had quite a few drinkies, which made today (sunday) lots of “fun.” ๐Ÿ˜€ let’s just say trying to keep your food down is exhausting, and i’m more than ready for bed! goodnight loves!

What a fun day! Your brunch cocktail is lovely – I’ll have to add that restaurant to my list.

this by far is my fav post of yours…hello cheesy fries!!!! i can’t imagine life without fries…my last meal on earth is having buttloads of In N’ Out fries w/ tons of ketchup.

that garmet district deal sounds bossy. i wanna visit just to shift through that mess and score some good finds. you must showcase your buys soon.

that museum looks hot. love the colorful windows display.

A dollar a pound for clothes? what a deal! cheesy fries look sooo good, as does the ice cream cocktail. Looks like you had a total blast ๐Ÿ˜€

Those windows at the ICA are gorgeous. I like a lot of modern art.

    The fries look incredible.
