cruise recap day three: dinner

September 23, 2009

it makes me happy just thinking back to this dinner- it was my favorite of all the nights! 🙂

my starter was a fruit medley (it was supposed to be strawberry, pineapple, and kiwi- but they were out of strawberry) with a sweet and tart lime syrup. i couldn’t taste the syrup- but i don’t think these fruits need to be sweetened anyway. yummy and refreshing!

for my entree i got the salmon. i had salmon from the dining room previously and thought i should try something new- but the waiter said this was dee-licious, so i had to get it.

it was perfect- pan seared with skin on! crispy salmon skin always reminds me of salmon skin hand rolls- YUM! the fish came with braised lentils, green beans, snow peas and a beurre blanc sauce. so good!

tom got a steak nearly every night 😀

dessert was the best! i got the strawberry pavlova: crispy meringue coated with fresh cream and topped with a strawberry compote. i could have eaten so many more of these- two of the other girls ordered it as well, and they didn’t like it as much, but i love meringue- and fruity desserts, so i was in love.

after dinner, we went back to our stateroom to change quickly and head back out to nassau. i told tommy that i couldn’t leave the bahamas without drinking a bahama mama, so we headed to senor frogs for a quick drink.

but first, i had to take a gazillion pictures with our latest towel creature!

lol 🙂

what do you think it is? tom says its a monkey- but i think it’s an old man hang gliding. i mean..he has a mustache and a cigar…makes sense, right?

the towel man/monkey excitement held us up for a while, and by the time we made it out to senor frogs- we had less than a half hour til the ship left the dock. we gulped our drinks down, listened to some bad karaoke and ran back! we were one of the last people back on the ship, but we made it- and got to enjoy the midnight sail-off par-tay too 🙂

the midnight buffet was the place to be. they were roasting a pig and there was so.much.food! i was wondering how people could possibly eat more food after dinner, but once i got to the dessert line- i found myself loading up my own plate! 😀

i got a scoop of strawberry ice cream, a fruit tart (which i covered in chocolate shards from the sundae fixings), a cupcake, and a glazed cream puff thingie.

i guess i got a little overzealous cus i could not eat all that. i ate the ice cream and cream puff and saved the rest for later (i knew bringing zip lock bags would come in handy!)

I love cruises. And I got my hubby to love them too. I wouldn’t be surprised if we end up going on one per year from now on. I love your towel animal!
