party in the usa: san francisco

October 1, 2009

i love san francisco! it’s one of my favoritest cities…i need to live there at some point in my life. or better yet, i WILL live there. in high school my plan was to study my ass off and get into CAL and hang out in sf and be fabulous. but i didn’t study quite enough cus i totally got rejected from my dream school and ended up at BU instead. moral of the story: get a C in high school chemistry and you will end up freezing your ass off in boston. i suppose worse things could happen, right?

anyway. it was tom’s first time in sf and we had less than 12 hours in the city. NOT ENOUGH TIME! ahh!

we just stuck to the touristy stuff.

first stop = the golden gate bridge natch.

lombard street…america’s crookedest street.

coit tower

pier 39

*sigh* california has the best produce…just look at these gorgeous strawberries!

in between all the sightseeing, we had lunch at fisherman’s wharf.

my sister and i split a crab chowdah in a sourdough bread bowl from nicks’s lighthouse- one of the many sidewalk stands.

have you ever had san francisco sourdough? it is unbelievably good…nice n’ tart (obviously)…i can’t get enough of it.

the chowder was also yummy….i thought there would be lumps of crab but no such luck, still delicious though. i think boston has the better clam chowder but san francisco takes the crab chowder for sure….especially when it’s fresh!

tommy enjoyed a sourdough pizza from boudin.

and these hot & fresh mini donuts (of course i stole a couple!)

in addition to the touristy stuff, we did a quick drive-through of some other neighborhoods in hopes that tom would fall in love with the city too. hopefully he did and we’ll get to visit again soon 🙂

next stop: reno!

I totally agree. I LOVE SF, and it’s totally foodie heaven. I want to go to grad school in Berkeley just for the food! By the way, check out Berkeley sometime…they’ve got some awesome hole-in-the-wall restaurants!
