in search of back fat

October 19, 2009

it’s always amusing finding out which search engine words or phrases have let people to my blog.

some of the most popular search engine terms i see include: korean sweet potato/yam, pineapple upside down cake shot, and back fat.

BACK FAT! ick!

this past spring, i briefly discussed my struggle with those unsightly rolls and bulges around the bra line and even promised monthly pictures of my progress…and then in typical me fashion, i completely forgot about it.

when i was on the cruise last month, i was wearing the same dress i wrote about in my post and decided it was about time i take an updated picture.

so here’s the before and after:

sw1 sw2

so yes, i made progress 🙂

however, i don’t have any blast away back fat tips to dole out. sorry! i’m the last person to look at for exercise advice..you’re gonna have to keep googling for that one!

instead i’ll just share my thoughts:

first, i hate looking at these pictures and i can’t believe i’m posting them- especially the first one. i mean, who likes showing unflattering photos of themselves? however, i keep saying that i want to focus on my weight loss goals on here- so i should probably post pics that pertain to that once in a while, right?

second, i’m impressed that i bust out the exact same pose in the both pictures (hand placement and all).

third, i was very surprised to see any change between the two pictures. i lost weight, but only five pounds in that four month span which feels like nothing at all. one of the frustrating things about losing weight so slowly is that i don’t see or feel progress. after losing a pound one week and half a pound two weeks later, i don’t look in the mirror and think, wow! i’m looking good! instead, i see all the same rolls of fat and pudge that are still there and feel defeated. if anything, this shows me that five pounds does make a difference, my body is improving, and all that gym time is worth it if i can rock a dress without having to worry about looking like a stuffed sausage. so, i’m going to stay motivated, keep exercising and watching what i eat and maybe in my next picture i’ll actually see a difference in my arms (i can only hope).

what are some interesting search engine terms that lead people to your page?

i want to know who keeps searches “sweet 26” daily. i’m convinced it’s the same person…you should really just subscribe, or at least bookmark me…wouldn’t that be easier?

Funny that they keep doing that. Oh, I hate like that too. But it does show the hard work you have done.

I love that white dress and congrats on your progress! Hehe, it is amusing that you have the same pose 🙂

An interesting one I got yesterday was “kombucha breakfast pancakes”. I guess some people want to try adding kombucha to their pancakes?

This is wonderful! You look awesome. And it’s funny how 5 lbs doesn’t seem like much when you’re losing…but imagine putting it back on! It is definitely all relative 😉 I can DEFINITELY tell when I gain or lose 5 lbs. You should be proud!

I’ve had some hilarious search terms to get to my blog. Can’t even think of them all right now. “Bingeing on cereal,” made me both laugh and cry.
