grocery shop @ kam man
i took a little field trip out to quincy today to visit kam man.
kam man is an indoor marketplace with a few different stores and stands, but the two main ones are the home goods store and the grocery store. this place doesn’t really compare to the asian malls or markets i’ve been to in cali…but it’s one of my favorite in the boston area. they have a HUGE selection of spices, sauces and other ingredients you may need for your cooking adventures. most of the stuff is chinese, but i’ve also seen products from all over asia.
the goal of today’s trip was to find cheap produce. they did have good prices, and a nice variety of chinese fruits and veggies…but i was disappointed with their overall selection.
mmm…chinese broccoli π
and of course i couldn’t ignore the rest of the store…we browsed through every aisle and tom patiently waited while i inspected about a gazillion labels.
look at all the sauces!
other yummies: aloe juice! and snackies!
fun stuff right? the OTHER store is even cooler!
my favorite is their selection of bento boxes:
or maybe the ginormous woks?
haha π
anyway, i didn’t go crazy today…here’s what i got:
i’ve never cooked bok choy before. please tell me what to do!
i also bought this:
i tried to save half for another day but i ended up eating all 271 calories of it. MMM!
and dinner….nothing asian-y about it…i had a baked potato with broccoli and feta, plus a chicken cake w/ bbq on the side. reminded me of summer π
Fun store! i seriously want that gigantic wok..my wok is my friend! I really want to know what that green thing you ate was though..
I’m pretty sure I would go NUTS in that store! So many goodies. I really want a bento box–do you have one? They seem like an awesome portion control tool π
Beautiful summery dinner!
We should plan a blogger trip to Kam Man – your goods looks yummy (mango pudding? heck yeah!).
We have alot of Asian marketplaces here in TX and I’ve always wanted to check them out but feel too intimidated. I might venture into one soon though cause you got some great loot!
Oh wow so much fun! And mmm chinese broccoli – Bento boxes!!!!! AHHH!! Love!
so cool! It’s so fun to see all the interesting products and foods!
LOVE the bento boxes!!! π
I love love going g-shopping @ Asian stores. You always come across some crazy product. Love those crazy Asians hahaha. I especially like going on the weekends cause they always have awesome sample stations through out the store. Only prob is the madness in the p-lot. Grrrrr~
AHHH! Amazing grocery store!! You got some awesome produce, too! I have no clue what to do with bok choy. I’d probably try to use it like lettuce or something, which would probably end up nasTT. Who know though. Raw veggies are delightful. OH!!! Thanks for the shout-out earlier, too! Have a fab Friday (uhhh, I totes had a thirsty thursday, too π )!
OO i love aloe vera juice! i heard that’s all victoria beckham drinks cause it has a laxative effect.
nishiki makes brown rice?! i need to get me some of that!
I love baby bok choy. I steam it, or stir fry it. Yum!
bokchoy, just some garlic to stirfry. i steam it and i love it in noodle soups π
aloe juice is sooo good.. once i totally went overboard and had like 2 huuuuge bottles of it and had a tummyache for like 2 days @_@
Great photos! Love the market tour- the photos are awesome!
