walk to wok

April 1, 2009

i had a small breakfast and lunch yesterday, so some snack action was only natural…

i had a pecan pie larabar late in the afternoon as well as half a banana before heading out on my walk.

we strayed from our usual path to explore the neighborhood outside of our complex. i noticed a small cemetery while driving a few days ago, so we visited that first.

there were no signs or anything indicating what type of cemetery this is and many of the gravestones were too worn out to read. most of them were from the early 19th century but there was also one that was only about 20 years old which really intrigued me. i googled it when i got home and this blurb is all i could find:

Boden Lane Cemetery is a very small burial site established in 1815. Although the cemetery was established in that year, many of the gravestones are dated even earlier than this date, with some dating back to the Revolutionary War.

this little state has so much history- it always amazes me! our little walk turned out a bit of a historical tour because we also stopped by this:

i guess that’s hard to read. the 20th vice president was a cobbler there.

walk

anyway, we did a little more than 3 miles and it took forever because i’m the slowest walker ever and we stopped to look at everything.

i was super hungry when i got home. i prepped all the ingredients for dinner earlier so i just had to throw it all together in the pan when i got in.

we had veggie (carrot, broccoli, cabbage, onion) + buckwheat noodle stirfry and i finally used up the last of my expired noodles. i always try to make a different sauce but it always turns out to be pretty similar to galbi/ korean bbq sauce. for this one, i used soy sauce, honey, garlic, and mirin. then i tried to switch it up by adding peanut butter and sriracha but it really didn’t make a diff.

yum, i went back for seconds.

a couple hours later, tommy and i snacked on some golden grahams.

okay, it started off as a “we” snacking thing, but i snacked on them much longer than he did…crunching on cereal is just so addicting! 🙂

I have no idea why cereal is so addicting, but once I start I can’t stop! Golden Grahams in particular are a childhood favorite 🙂

Mmmm pecan pie is one of my fave Larabar flavors.

I’m jealous that Tommy takes walks with you – John’s not a big walker. What’s your secret? 😉

I love the history that permeates Boston… I need to pretend to be a tourist one day (in cognito, of course) and do all sorts of touristy things!
